Open Doors Dance! – Belly Dance @ The Cowles Center

The Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts is thrilled to unveil a long awaited program- OPEN DOOR DANCE! This inclusive program offers an opportunity to learn new dances in a social setting. Classes will be held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month and will focus on a new dance style every month. Bring a group of friends and make ‘hump day’ Wednesday a bit more fun! Finish the night at Thom Pham’s Wondrous Azian Kitchen and receive 10% off your entire bill for the night!


Shimmy and Shake this May with Aliyah Sahar (aka Leslie Kennedy) as she teaches Middle Eastern Dance –Raqs Sharqi, popularly known as Belly Dance! This class covers the basic vocabulary of Middle Eastern dance moves, including a break down of the basic movements, muscle isolations, dance conditioning and movement combinations. Instructor, Aliyah has been teaching and performing Middle Eastern Dance for more than a decade.  She teaches and performs locally and in the Midwest, is a member of the Jawaahir Dance Company and has been Director of The Sisters of the Sahara Dance Ensemble since 2006.  Wear comfortable clothes; dance in bare feet, dance sandals or ballet slippers and feel free to bring a scarf to emphasize hip movement!
